Need a new twist on a holiday favorite? This pineapple beer ham in the slow cooker will be the star of your next holiday dinner. The sweet pineapple pairs beautifully with the savory ham, while the lager adds a rich depth of flavor that keeps the meat juicy and tender.

This ham is perfect for holiday dinners or a weeknight dinner and has big flavor without hours of hands-on work. Additionally, this will keep the oven space free for other dishes. With just three ingredients — ham, pineapple, and beer — the slow cooker does the heavy lifting.
The end result is a perfectly cooked, juicy ham, perfect for holidays, family gatherings, or even Sunday dinner. Plus, using an Irish lager also adds a bit of St. Patrick’s Day flair if you are not a fan of corned beef or beef stew.

How To Make Crockpot Beer Ham
Spray the inside of your crockpot with a nonstick spray.
Drain the juice from your can of pineapple chunks into the bottom of the crockpot.
Remove the ham from the packaging and place the bone end of the ham in the bottom of the pan. You may need to be careful with the juices from the ham. I do mine over the sink or a trash can to drain the juices.

Use toothpicks and stab the chunk of pineapple into the ham with toothpicks.
Dump the rest of the pineapple onto the ham or add it to the crockpot.
Crack open your beer can and pour the can of beer over the ham.

Turn your crockpot on low and cook for 6-8 hours. There is no need to lift the crockpot. If you prefer, you can use a baster to extract the juice from the top of the ham, but it will be very juicy. Just set it and forget it.
Cooking time will vary based on the size of the crockpot and the size of the ham.
If your lid won’t stay on the crockpot, you can secure it with tin foil. It will work well to keep the ham moist while cooking.

Use a meat thermometer to verify your ham is done. If you are heating a precooked ham, you will need to cook it till an internal temperature of 165.

Remove with tongs and a meat fork when done, and place onto a serving platter.

Allow the ham to rest 5-10 minutes after removing from the slow cooker before slicing.
Slice and serve! Perfect for Easter Ham, Christmas dinner, and Thanksgiving, too!

Alternate Ingredients For Irish Lager Ham
- Dijon Mustard
- Ginger ale or apple cider in place of beer
- Brown Sugar
- Maple syrup
How To Store Leftover Ham
Remove your ham from the bone and trim any excess fat. Cut the leftover ham pieces and store them in an air-tight container or a zip-lock bag. You can keep the bone for use in leftover ham recipes or just toss the bone.
Ham can be stored in the fridge for up to five days or frozen for up to 3 months.
A ham bone can not be given to dogs; it is unsafe for dogs to chew on it as it will break and harm their digestive system.
Storing leftovers properly requires the right tools! My preferred storage method is if the leftovers can be sealed in a food saver. If not, then an air-tight container or Ziploc bag for the fridge is the way I go. The airtight container or a freezer Ziploc bag are the next best bet for freezing the leftovers. I also use a food scale to measure portions into serving sizes.
