How To Make Slow Cooker Beef Tips With Gravy
Start out by trimming any excess fat or gristle off the stew meat.
Season the meat with salt and pepper.

Spray your crockpot with an olive sprayer or a non stick spray. I use my oil mister, which pours or sprays olive oil. You can get the two in one on Amazon -> here!
In a sauté pan, add a little olive oil and turn the burner to medium-high heat. If you want to measure, use 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil. Be sure not to overcrowd the meat in the pan to allow for more even browning.
Once the oil in the pan is hot, start to drop the stew meat into the pan. It will sizzle as you drop the meat into the pan.

Use a spatula to flip the meat while it cooks.
Once the meat has started searing, aka browning, remove the pan from the heat.
Remove the browned stew meat from the pan and place it in the bottom of the crock pot.
Open both the onion soup mix and au jus gravy, and sprinkle the powders over the stew meat. You will not need any of the other ingredients listed on the gravy and soup mix package.
Slice the butter into small pieces and place the butter on top of the meat in the crockpot.
Pour in your bone broth in the crockpot over the meat and butter.

Turn your crockpot on low, cover it, and cook for at least 4-6 hours. If your crockpot is set to high or cooks hot, it may finish in 2-4 hours.
You can stir partially through the cooking time. Even without stirring, the gravy and soup packets will combine well.
Once the meat is fork tender, turn your crockpot off, or flip to keep warm, and stir.

Allow to rest 10-15 minutes before serving. The sauce will thicken some as it sets.
Serve over rice or mashed potatoes.
