Now with three kids, it’s not a surprise that two of them don’t like turkey, so no matter the holiday, we make ham. When these cuts are on sale at the grocery store, I always buy the latest one possible because you can repose them into other meals. I also buy at least one extra ham to stash in the freezer. Our favorite leftover ham recipes also make for an easy weeknight dinner.
Ham Recipes
There are so many ways to make ham. You can use a roasting pan in the oven, cook in an electric roaster, in a smoker, or, in my favorite way, in the crockpot. Ham is perfect for a Christmas dinner, a special occasion, a Thanksgiving dinner, or an Easter dinner. Any holiday fest is perfect.

Close second to crockpot ham in my house is smoked ham. Smoking the ham on the smoker adds flavor. And again, no heating up the house to make the ham and space in the oven! A Pitboss pellet grill is how we smoke in my house, but these can be done on any pellet smoker or vertical smoker.

How To Store Leftover Ham
Remove your ham from the bone and trim any excess fat. Cut the leftover ham pieces and store them in an air-tight container. This can be in an airtight container or a zip-lock bag. You can keep the bone in leftover ham recipes or toss the bone. A ham bone can not be given to dogs; it is unsafe for dogs to chew on it as it will break and harm their digestive system.
Ham can be stored in the fridge for up to five days or frozen for up to 3 months.
