Holiday dinners and meals are almost always everyone’s favorite, but leftovers also make a list. These leftover ham recipes are perfect for Easter Dinner Ham or Christmas dinner ham. Thankfully most are also easy recipes since cooking the next day after a holiday doesn’t always seem fun.
Now with three kids, it’s not a surprise that two of them don’t like turkey, so no matter the holiday, we make ham. When these cuts are on sale at the grocery store, I always buy the latest ones possible because you can repurpose them into other meals. I also buy at least one extra ham to stash in the freezer. Our favorite leftover ham recipes also make for an easy weeknight dinner.
Leftover Ham RecipesÂ
There are so many ways to make ham. You can use a roasting pan in the oven, cook in an electric roaster, in a smoker, or, in my favorite way, in the crockpot. Ham is perfect for a Christmas dinner, a special occasion, a Thanksgiving dinner, or an Easter dinner. Any holiday fest is perfect.

I know what you are thinking, ham in the crockpot… but hear me out, you don’t have to turn on the oven, so you can even make this in the summer with no issues! I often use my 8-quart crockpot for cooking hams in; if the lid doesn’t close, I use a bit of tinfoil to secure it.
Smoked Ham Recipes
Close second to crockpot ham in my house is smoked ham. Smoking the ham on the smoker adds flavor. And again, no heating up the house to make the ham and space in the oven! A Pitboss pellet grill is how we smoke in my house, but these can be done on any pellet smoker or vertical smoker.

Remove your ham from the bone and trim any excess fat. Cut the leftover ham pieces and store them in an air-tight container or a zip-lock bag. You can keep the bone for use in leftover ham recipes or just toss the bone.
Ham can be stored in the fridge for up to five days or frozen for up to 3 months.
A ham bone can not be given to dogs; it is unsafe for dogs to chew on it as it will break and harm their digestive system.
Storing leftovers properly requires the right tools! My preferred storage method is if the leftovers can be sealed in a food saver. If not, then an air-tight container or Ziploc bag for the fridge is the way I go. The airtight container or a freezer Ziploc bag are the next best bet for freezing the leftovers. I also use a food scale to measure portions into serving sizes.
