There is no joking about this; you need this Crock Pot Ranch Chicken in your meal planning rotation! This recipe has only ingredients and is easy to make since there are no steps! This is one of those recipes I make year-round on busy soccer nights, school nights, and even days when we just get swamped running errands.

Now I know I am not the only mom that loves those dump-it-and-let-it-cook dinners. This can be made with frozen or fresh chicken; if you make too much, the leftovers are perfect for another dinner or lunch. If you can’t tell, my favorite part of the Crockpot Ranch Chicken is being able to plop the ingredients in the Crockpot and have the meal ready for a busy night with no extra effort.
10 Quart Crockpot8 Quart Crockpot
6 Quart Crockpot
I have a collection of crockpots as well as recipes. I love my 8-quart crockpot the most. The name of my game is to make the most food at a time and have leftovers. This will also work in a 6-quart crockpot reasonably easily.
Crockpot Ranch Chicken Ingredients:
- Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts– You could use thighs, but the mixture will be greaser from the fat of the chicken. And bone-in chicken, but you must pick off the meat from the bone and be careful of bones falling into the mixture.
- Cream of Chicken Soup– I have also made this with cream of potato before. You can use cream of mushroom, but that is not one my family likes.
- Milk
- Salt
- Pepper
- Hidden Valley Ranch Seasonin
g– You can use packets or dry ranch seasoning from a container to make this. I have a container of dry ranch seasoning because of how much we use.
How To Make slow cooker Ranch Chicken:
Turn your crockpot on low.
Spray Crockpot with a non-stick spray or line with a crockpot liner; trust me this step makes cleanup a breeze.
Crockpot LinersNonstick Sprays
Mix the cream of chicken, milk, ranch powder, salt, and pepper together in the crockpot.
I use a one-to-one ratio for milk and soup. I use a can of soup paired with milk, depending on how much chicken I make. Let the mixture sit for about 30 minutes on low.

Place chicken breast in the mixture and leave on low for 3-6 hours; this cooking time depends on how hot or fast your slow cooker cooks.

Be sure to use a meat thermometer to ensure the meat is cooked all the way through, and your breasts will fall apart when they are done.

I also take easy dinner to the next level and serve this up with rice from a rice cooker!! I mean, is there a better sight than two appliances making your dinner with little effort?

How To Store Leftover Crockpot Ranch Chicken
Store in the fridge in an airtight container for three days.
I have not frozen this before, but If you are to freeze it, make sure there is plenty of sauce with the chicken in the air-tight container, which is thawed before reheating.

Cheryl says
ummmmm, sounds yummy, but where is the Hidden Valley introduced? mixed w/milk & soup or as a coating?
Jenny says
Added it into the recipe. In with the milk and soup combo. Thank you for pointing that out!
Crystal says
Your cook time says 3-6 hours, that’s quite a span! How long would you say it took for your 8 qt? I also have an 8 qt. Thanks
Jenny says
Alot of the variation in cook time is frozen meat vs thawed meat and knowing how your slow cooker cooks. Mine cooks a bit hot so I normally ended up at about the 4 1/2 hour range. Hope that helps.
Christi says
Mix the ranch seasoning packet with the soup and milk then add chicken
Jaime says
Have you ever tried it with the chicken starting out as frozen? Do u recommend a cooking time if they are frozen to begin with?
Jenny says
I have a girlfriend who has and says it takes about a bit longer, she only cooks with frozen chicken in the crock pot. I would be sure to make you keep an eye on them and double check the temperature when you think they are done.
Claudette Null says
What’s the green season ing on the chicken?
Michelle says
For your chicken ranch crock pot recipe how many chicken breasts should I use. Obviously I’m not a good guesser 🙂 thanks!!
Kristina Adams says
I was wondering the same thing. I only have a little crock pot for basically a couple servings. So I was figuring 1 of everything to make it for one person. I like that this is so simple. Will definitely have to try it soon.
Christi says
The recipe says 5 boneless skinless chicken breast.
Jenny says
I do about 2-3 chicken breasts in the crock pot depending on their size.
dee says
When do you shredded the chicken
Jenny says
I make mine in my crock pot in bulk and freeze it out. I put the directions to it in this post -> https://cookeatgo.com/crock-pot-shredded-chicken/ hope that helps!!
Jenny says
I just realized I responded with the wrong answer!! When you pull the chicken breast from the crock pot mine comes apart easy and we normally just squish it with a fork and it instantly shreds.
dee says
Thanks I’m going to make this tonight thanks a lot

Jenny says
I think it would work they would just cook faster. It is one of our favorites!
Lynn says
Do you use the whole packet of ranch?

Yes you do. Or measure out the amount out of a large container of the ranch seasoning for a packet.
Crystal says
1 packet of ranch or 3?
Jenny says
1 packet of ranch seasoning.
Chris says
The recipe says 3 packets. I’m so glad I read the comments.

What kind of milk is used? Evaporated milk? I ask because that is the only canned milk I can think of.

Shana says

Michelle says
Can this recipe be prepped and frozen for cooking in the crockpot later?
Tammy Veltri says
Made today for our dinner. I used 2 frozen half chicken breasts, 1 can of soup, 1 can of milk and 1 packet of ranch. 4 hours on low. Delicious! Will definitely make again. So easy.
Helen says
Way Way to much salt. I put a potatoe in it to soak up some salt. Had open heart surgery and high blood pressure I do not recommend with health problems. But it smelt delicous.
Christi says
The good thing about recipes is you can alter them to your needs. You don’t have to use salt. Also look for reduced sodium when choosing the cream of chicken. And you can use less ranch seasoning if needed.
Dawn Collins says
Can you use liquid ranch dressing if you don’t have the dry?
Jenny says
I wouldn’t, maybe mix some in at the end but I am not sure how it would do in the heat that long.
Kathy says
Just ran across this recipe in my saved pages. Just trying to clarify in my mind, when you say 5 chicken breasts, do you mean a whole breast or a split chicken breast? Sometimes they seem to be used interchangeably.
Jenny says
I use boneless breasts so 5 breasts out of a package of fresh breasts.
