Recently, I showed you how to make your own ranch seasoning at home. In this post we’re going to explore just some of the many glorious recipes with ranch seasoning to easily flavor some of my favorite frugal meals. From marinades to casseroles, popcorn to potatoes, ranch seasoning isn’t just for making salad dressing.

I love making my own ranch seasoning. But I had no idea I’d be putting it on darn near every food item in the house. You know, for science and well flavor.
And now I’m ready to share my results with you: Ranch is amazing on just about everything. You probably already know that, but the number of different foods I can now get my kids to eat just by putting some ranch or ranch seasoning on them blew my mind!
In this post, I’ve gathered some of my favorite uses for and recipes that contain ranch or ranch seasoning. If you’ve got some picky eaters in your family too, throw some ranch on their food and watch them gobble it up!
What Is In Ranch Seasoning?
Ranch seasoning is the dry ingredients like herbs and spices found in ranch dressing plus buttermilk powder. The homemade ranch seasoning mix can then be used to make dressings or dips, be sprinkled generously on popcorn, grilled veggies or baked potatoes, or used as a rub or marinade for chicken, beef, pork, and more.

How to Make Ranch Seasoning
You only need some buttermilk powder and a few common dry herbs and spices, such as onion and garlic powder, dried chives, and parsley, to make your own ranch seasoning blend. Then just gather your ingredients in a sealable, airtight jar, shake, and store.

Tips & Tricks For The Best Ranch Seasoning
- Well-sealed and airtight mason jars are best to help control moisture and retain freshness.
- Buttermilk powder is found in the baking section. I looked at four stores in the spices section before realizing, so let me save you hours of searching.
- Add a little extra garlic or onion powder, black pepper, smoked paprika, or dried herbs as flavor enhancers for extra zingy dressing.
- Make sure your dried herbs aren’t expired or old and are still fresh to get their best flavors.
Store Bought Ranch Seasoning
There are also a variety of store-bought ranch seasoning blends available at the grocery store. Most are in the spice aisle, but some are kept with the salad dressings. Here are some of my old favorite brands before I started making my own.
- Hidden Valley Ranch – the classic choice
- Badia Ranch Seasoning
- McCormick Ranch Seasoning
- Trader Joe’s Ranch Seasoning
- Spiceology Ranch Seasoning
- Flavor God Ranch Seasoning
How Much Ranch Seasoning Is In A Packet?
The amounts per package or container vary by brand. But the standard Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning packets contain approximately 3 Tablespoons of seasoning mix per 1 ounce package. And trust me, it’s easy to measure out of a mason jar when cooking.

Ways To Use Ranch Seasoning
One of the best things about ranch dressing is its versatility. These are just a few easy ways my family loves to use ranch seasoning beyond just salad dressing.
- Make veggie dip – and not just for carrots and celery. Try it with some fried pickles or this air-fried broccoli.
- It’s fantastic sprinkled over grilled veggies.
- Use it to make this amazing Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad.
- Use it as a sauce or a marinade for grilled chicken, oven baked pork chops, or fish.
- Put it on hamburgers and grilled chicken sandwiches.
- Add a little on some Deviled Eggs
- It makes a great dipping sauce for chicken tenders, poppers, French fries, onion rings, etc.
- Sprinkle it on popcorn, baked or air-fried potatoes, potato chips, pita chips, and more.
