Easy Healthy Yogurt Dip Recipes

I love dips. But their ingredients don’t always match my weight loss goals. That’s why I also love to create healthier variations of traditional recipes that will align with my weight loss journey.

Here, I’ve gathered just some of my favorite dips, which are healthier versions of their traditional counterparts. But don’t worry—these dips don’t skimp on flavor or consistency.

Whether you’re following Weight Watchers, on your own journey, or just looking for healthier options, these delicious dips are sure to please. Plus, the nonfat Greek yogurt makes them creamy and full of protein.

I personally use the app Myfitnesspal to track my food.  I use macros and focus on High Protein (calories, fat, protein, and carbohydrates) and rotate through cuts and maintenance calories. (Use a calculator like this -> here)  . I did WW for years, but now that I am more maintenance, with cuts throughout the year, and focusing on mobility with strength training. There is no right or wrong answer, as all bodies are different.

Substitutions & Alteration Options For Yogurt Dip

Use allergen-free or non-fat/low-calorie ingredients where needed to accommodate your dietary needs or tastes. Note: the result may be a little different from the original recipe. I haven’t made all these dips using substitutions.

  • Dairy-free sour cream and cream cheese can be used in place of regular.
  • Plant-based or vegan meats and cheeses can be used for vegetarian and vegan options.
  • Low-fat and nonfat options for things like mayo, cream cheese, etc., can be used to lower calories or for a healthier option

Tips & Tricks

  • Most dips will develop their flavor more as they sit for a little bit. I like to let my dips rest in the refrigerator for at least two hours to overnight before serving.
  • Always store dips in their food-safe temperature range for either hot or cold dips. Never wrap or store dips while they are still hot or warm. Allow them to cool completely at room temperature or in the fridge before wrapping for storage.

Storage Tips for Dips

  • Always store dips in an airtight, well-sealed container in the coldest part of your refrigerator for best results. See individual recipe posts for specific storage and “best by” times.

*Pro-tip: when you make the batch pre-dish this into individual containers for easy snacking later. I buy little food storage containers to put mine in. You can get them at Target, Walmart, or Amazon!

A little planning makes a difference in staying on track with your goals. Also, the disposable containers are perfect for work lunches, traveling, or camping.

How to Make Dips Healthier

There are a few ways you can make traditional dips healthier. Two of the most obvious options are 

  • Swap out mayonnaise or sour cream for nonfat plain Greek yogurt
  • Use low-fat and low-calorie products instead of full or whole-fat ones

WHAT TO DIP INTO GREEK YOGURT DIPS 

Each of these healthy dips will pair better with certain items than others, but here are a few general ideas that go great with just about anything, especially Greek yogurt veggie dips.

  • Fresh veggie sticks like cucumbers and carrots 
  • Baby carrots or crudites
  • Battered and fried or tempura veggies
  • Crackers, bagel chips, or pita chips
  • Corn or tortilla chips
  • Strawberries, grapes, apple, or other fresh fruit
  • Air-fried potatoes
  • Potato chips and pretzels
  • Soft pretzels or pretzel bites
  • Breadsticks
  • Chicken wings 
  • French fries and Onion rings
  • Rustic-style bread, like a baguette or sourdough

Greek Yogurt Mix-Ins 

Now you change up the taste of the dip by changing the items mixed into the yogurt to make a yogurt dip, sandwich spread, or a yogurt sauce to drizzle over kebabs.
