Any of these cake mix cookies are perfect to make as a family or to make with younger kids. It is an easy dessert and one that doesn’t require a ton of measuring. These are perfect for busy families, as they have a short ingredient list, minimal mess, and no stress. Just a box of cake mix, a few simple add-ins, and you’ve got soft, delicious cookies in minutes.

The steps for these cookies are easy enough for little hands to help stir, scoop, and decorate. Teens can even make them on their own! Spending time in the kitchen is one of my family’s favorite things to do, especially in the holiday season.
You can reduce the calories in these cookies by swapping out for a sugar-free mix. Some treats will always be just a treat, and for me, I pair them up with a Diet Coke and work them into my calories for the day. ( I mean, there is always room for a cookie in my opinion) Moderation is key, and knowing what your goals are.
Supplies For Making Cake Mix Cookies
- Cookie Sheets – Now, I love my mother and grandmother, but their cookie sheet styles are not ones I can use and not burn cookies. Kitchen Aid Cookie Sheets are my jam, whereas my mom uses them without problems.
- Parchment Paper– This is a recent trick I learned when we made four different batches of cake mix cookies in a day, but just changed the paper between flavors and no washing dishes in between for the cookie sheets.
- Cookie Scoops– This is optional but amazing to keep cookies uniform and help kids scoop cookies.
- Baking Racks– Have a couple of these to make cooling cookies and bread before storing.
- Storage Containers– Storing cookies in an air-tight container help to keep them fresh longer.

How To Store Cake Mix Cookies
Store in an airtight container or a Ziploc bag for three to five days. You can also freeze it in an airtight container for 30 to 90 days.
Storing leftovers properly requires the right tools! My preferred storage method is if the leftovers can be sealed in a food saver. If not, then an air-tight container or Ziploc bag for the fridge is the way I go. The airtight container or a freezer Ziploc bag are the next best bet for freezing the leftovers. I also use a food scale to measure portions into serving sizes.
