This High-Protein Buffalo Chicken Dip has a creamy texture and spicy kick and offers a nutritious filling appetizer. Combine shredded chicken breast with tangy buffalo sauce, smooth cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, and ranch seasoning. This dip offers a healthier alternative and is full of flavor for tailgating or just because.

Typically, buffalo chicken dip is made with cream cheese, which is high in fat and sugar! I love that this is way low in sugar and fat. Plus, it comes together quickly and will be a hit with the crowd!
Why You’ll Love This Healthy Buffalo Chicken Dip
- High protein dip
- Creamy with a spicy kick
- Easy to make
- Perfect for gatherings and game day tailgating!
Buffalo Chicken Dip Ingredients
Shredded Chicken Breast– You can use dark meat, but that will change the macros and points. I used this recipe -> here to make it in my crockpot. Or you can also use shredded rotisserie chicken or canned chicken
Cottage Cheese– I used 2% low fat
Types Of Ranch Seasoning
While I love Hidden Valley Ranch packets or seasoning, nothing beats homemade ranch seasoning. (You can see my recipe->here.) If I am out of ranch seasoning (it doesn’t happen often), I love Hidden Valley or Burlap and Barrel. (Burlap and Barrel is on their site-> here
) Burlap and Barrel has fantastic flavor and is sustainable from farmers and foragers.

How To Make Slow Cooked Chicken Shredded
I have a guide here on how to make a large batch of shredded chicken. You can meal-prep enough for the week or freeze it to pull out later!
The CliffsNotes version is to fill your crockpot with chicken breasts and broth. Allow the chicken to cook until it reaches an internal temperature of at least 160 degrees. Remove the chicken from the broth and shred it. Use meat claws or a Kitchen Aid mixer to do so.

How To Make Buffalo Chicken Dip
There are two ways to make this dip: with a food processor or without. I must have my cottage cheese blended; if I know it’s not mixed, I can’t bring myself to eat it. (Yes, I realize that it’s all mental.) However, the added protein is fantastic!
How To Make High-Protein Buffalo Chicken Dip Without A Food Processor
- Spray an 8×8 pan with a nonstick spray. (I used an aluminum pan because I knew I was taking part of it to a girlfriend’s house)
- Combine chicken, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, ranch, and buffalo sauce in a bowl or pan.
- Once mixed well, spread evenly throughout the pan.
- Top with cheese and bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
How To Make High Protein Buffalo Chicken Dip With A Food Processor
Add cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, and buffalo sauce to your food processor container. I saved the ranch for after the first blending.

Blend until well combined.
Add ranch seasoning and blend again.

I used my Ninja blender to do this. I used the Auto-IQ twice, the first blending to ensure it was well blended. After the first time, I used a spatula to scrape the walls and stir from the bottom, then added the ranch seasoning for the second blending. (no cottage cheese chunks were getting by me)
In a large bowl, measure out your shredded chicken and pour the blended buffalo sauce over the shredded chicken.

Mix the sauce and chicken until all the chicken has been coated with the sauce.
Spray your pan with a nonstick spray. You can make this in an 8×8 baking dish or a large pan. The smaller pan will make the dip deeper and the cheese more dense.
Spread the sauced chicken into the bottom of the pan.

Top with the shredded cheese. You can use less or more cheese. It should be measured by the heart, but macros matter, so be sure to track to see what you will want as a serving.
Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Remove and serve! I served mine with bell peppers and Ritz crackers.
How To Store Leftover Buffalo Chicken Dip
Once your dip has chilled wrap with foil, saran wrap, or the pan lid and store in the fridge for up to three days.
How To Reheat Buffalo Chicken Dip
The fastest way to reheat this is in the microwave, or you can put back in the oven. You can also eat this cold after it has been cooked. Trust me, it’s amazing in a wrap.

Points For Weight Watchers Points Buffalo Chicken Dip
This recipe uses 2% full-fat cheese, which is 2 points for 12 servings or 3 points for eight servings. Lower the points using fat-free cottage cheese or low-fat/fat-free cheese, or smaller servings. I like to use points on my dairy because of the flavor and creaminess!
