Crock Pot Loaded Baked Beans are a family favorite! It finally feels like a fall in the Pacific Northwest; the rain has returned to us. It was a long hot, dry summer, and this was one of the first times I was so excited to see the rain. That means it’s crockpot season again even.

These Crock Pot Loaded Baked Beans are a family favorite! Last winter, a friend sent me her bean recipe; the kids have been in love with them since she brought them over. I love that they will eat this since it’s packed full of protein between the beans and beef, but we had to tweak it and add bacon since it’s my family. However, my favorite part is how easy they are to make!

Crock Pot Loaded Baked Beans Ingredients:
- Bush’s Chili Beans-I used 27 Ounce can
- Bush’s Butter Beans-I used 16 Ounce can
- Bush Baked Beans-I used 28 Ounce can
- Ground Beef
- Bacon
- Onion Powder
- Minced Garlic
- Ketchup
- Brown Mustard
- Brown Sugar
- White Vinegar
How To Make Crock Pot Cowboy Beans:
Brown up your hamburger and cook up your bacon.

Take a lot of prep work out of weeknight dinners and precook and freeze your cooked ground beef! Pull and defrost the ground beef to put in recipes like this for an easy weeknight dinner! (If you aren’t sure how to best do this, check out Freezing Cooked Ground Beef)
Spray your crockpot with a nonstick spray. I used my 8-quart crockpot ( you can grab one -> here on Amazon) to create this, so I would have a lot of room for mixing the ingredients.

Open your cans and dump all the beans in your crockpot.
Next, add in the rest of the ingredients and stir.

Stir the crockpot and turn your slow cooker to low.

Cook on low for 4-6 hours and serve!!

What do you like to make with Bush’s beans? What’s your go-to dish?

Tina says
Just curious… isn’t a pound of bacon a whole lot of bacon to go in there? Do you chop it in tiny pieces? It still sounds like a lot. Thanks!
Jenny says
It makes a lot of beans. I chop the bacon up and brown n a pound. You could do less my family is just a bacon fanatic so we do a lot of it. I also use thick bacon so a lb doesn’t seem like a lot of slices compared to thinly sliced bacon.
Bobby says
I made these last night, absolutely wonderful.
I substituted great northern beans for the butter beans and i chopped an Onion and cooked it with the ground beef in place of the onion powder.
Scrumptious, we’ll definitely make again.
Becca says
Mine are cooking now, and that is exactly what I did. Can’t wait to try them.
Sue Turner says

Hi, I have a question. I am Canadian and as far as I can see I haven’t seen any Bush beans here. So for the can of butter beans. We do have Bake & Chilli. Other cans we have are Tomato beans, maple beans regular beans and brown sugar. Which would be best to replace the butter one. I am so making this. I love baked beans. I so miss my mom’s beans. Thank you.
Sue says
I have used Canneloni and or Great Northern beans
John buddie says

Nancy Cruz says

Penny says
Do you drain the beans
Carolyn Shepeck says
I have made these for years but I put in Lima beards drained and pinto beans. Now I am Hungary for them but this batch is too much for my husband and I.
Anita says
Many of your recipes look delicious! It would be very helpful if you would include nutritional information so people like me, with diabetes, or anyone with medical conditions, etc could know if the recipes are appropriate for them.
Thank you!
Rita Hirsch says
I have made a variation of this recipe (which we call calico beans) for over 40 years. Everyone loves it and it usually always shows up at family potlucks. I began using 1/2 pound hamburger and 1/2 pound breakfast sausage(I use Jimmy Dean) years ago and it definitely adds flavor. I sometimes use green Lima beans, other times I use the large butter beans, but I always use pork & beans and kidney beans. You just cannot go wrong with this recipe, it’s my favorite. I also sometimes bake them in oven, then transfer to Crock-Pot to keep warm while serving. You get a depth to flavor in oven cooking. Do what works best for you at that time, they will always be yummy!
Jenny says
I never thought of the breakfast sausage before!! I am going to have to try that! I am such a crock pot girl but I trying them in the oven sounds good too!
E. Marie Ramczyk says
I make that and we call them Cowboy Beans!
Rita Hirsch says
Oh yes, bacon is a must! I also use thick cut and you can never have too much bacon!
James E Spong says
Do you pre cook the bacon?
Jenny says
I do just a little bit! It will cook some in the crock pot but not enough to wear I felt it would be safe to serve and eat.
Kayla says
This looks delicious! How is your favorite way to serve it….plain, over spaghetti, etc?
Jenny says
We eat it as is. My daughter has put it on hot dogs before to make a bean dog.
Missy says
Do you know the WW points and serving size?
Frannie says
We call these beans Cowboy beans. I cook this all the time. I also add a little red peppers flakes to mine.
Jenny says
Oh I never thought of red pepper flakes! I have a girlfriend in Penn that said she calls them Cowboy beans too!
Martha says
Should the canned beans get drained and rinsed before adding to the crockpot?
Jenny says
I don’t drain them and rinse them but you could if you want too. I think the juices add a bit of flavor.
Susan R Clifton says
Sounds delicious, BUT my family and I do not like white beans. Could black beans or another kind of canned beans be substituted for them?
Jenny says
You could just omit them. Maybe try a chili bean in its place but it may change the taste of them.
Erlene McInnis says
Can we freeze them in serving portions. And when we want to serve them, would we thaw
them in the fridge and reheat in the mike ?
Jenny says
Yes!! I do this quite a bit and freeze it in portions that fit in my little crockpot to rewarm up, and lets face it make the house smell good!
sue grim says
I make this for dinner. make white rice to put this over
Hol says
People with diabetes: You already know that carbs are bad for you, sugar is also. You just need to watch your portion. I wouldn’t serve my self any more than one cup, to be on the safe side. Pick whether you want this yummy nutritional side dish or dessert in the same meal…for example.
Judy says
Can you cook the ground beef in the crock pot with the beans instead of cooking it first then adding to the pot? I think it would add flavor.
