2 Ingredient Pumpkin Brownies stacked on a white plate

I couldn’t believe how easy these were to whip up the first time I made them! All you have to do is mix the two ingredients together, and bam — you’ve got brownies. No eggs and no oil. The texture is more like a thick fudge than a traditional brownie.

2 Ingredients Pumpkin Brownies Ingredients:

**You will not need the oil, water, or eggs listed on the box mix, just the brownie mix powder in the bag in the box**

How To Make Brownies With Pumpkin Puree

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees

Spray a 9X13 pan (I used a Pyrex Pan) with a nonstick spray. If you grease the pan with Crisco it will add points and calories to the recipe.

Box of brownie mix and can of pumpkin puree on table

Mix together both the pumpkin and brownie mix in a bowl.

**Pro-Tip** This is a thick batter, add the dry powder slowly to the wet pumpkin puree in the bowl**

It gets really thick, I slowly added in the brownie mix and it was still hard to mix up with a whisk.

Bake for about 15-20 minutes and be sure to check for being cooked through. Use a toothpick to make sure it comes out of the cooked brownies clean.

They are thick enough you could cut them like fudge for a get-together or potluck this fall.

Either store in the pan with a lid or move to an airtight container. Keep sealed for up to 5 days, though mine didn’t last that long with kids.

  1. was really disappointed in these followed the directions and with only two ingredients wasn’t hard and they were so thin and chewy, I made sure they were done checked with a toothpick . What did I do wrong??

    1. Use a cupcake pan, cake mix, bake @ 400° for 23 minutes. I have been making them that way for a few years. Good luck… They are good! 🙂

      1. What size can of Pumpkin? Does anyone know if you can use white cake mix & pumpkin spice, want to know if they taste like pumpkin or not.
        Thanks

        1. When I make my pumpkin muffins I use a 15 oz. can of pumpkin. I sometimes find it to hard to stir and I cheat and add just a splash of water. Hope this helps.

          1. I was told to use a small amt of water so it is not so hard on mixer. I use 1/4 c water. My leader told this.

      2. I thought that WW followers should use Pillsbury Zero Sugar brownie mix? I have used this mix but added 1egg, 1tsp vanilla, 2 tablespoons of Espresso powder and a handful of pecans or walnuts. Is the Duncan Hines mix equal to the Pillsbury mix as far as points are concerned? I use an 8×8 pan.

I agree! The texture was too spongy and the flavor wasn’t even that good. I will not be making these again!

    3. I tweaked the recipe after reading the reviews and my version was much better! Use three tablespoons of milk. 1/2 cup olive oil. 1 egg. Pumpkin pie spice to your liking. Add pumpkin and brownie mix. Mix everything together and follow baking instructions on the brownie box

    4. Try substituting the amount of oil needed for the recipe with water. It’s a 3 ingredient brownie recipe but the water seems to make them more like a brownie consistency

  2. I haven’t made these yet, but from the comments I would make it 3 ingredients – add 2 or 3 eggs.

    1. I didn’t like them at all. They are four Freestyle SPs & not worth it! I do think I will make them again however, next time into drop cookies instead of brownies. The crispy pieces around the edge were pretty tasty.

  3. Don’t expect these to be like the brownies you are used to. That said, I loved them. The texture is different, but the taste is good. I added pumpkin spice and cinnamon. I will try them in the cupcake tin next time. I bake for 20 mins in 9×13 glass pan.

  4. Okay, the recipe doesn’t quite clarify: do you make the brownie mix or just add the powder??? Excited to make these!

  5. These brownies sound amazing, Jenny! I have to admit that though my favorite brownies are 100% homemade, I’m still a sucker for the mixes since I grew up on them. Love pumpkin too, so Ill have to try these. Thanks for sharing. Pinning!

  6. I love brownies! Maybe if I make these I won’t feel as guilty when eating them because they will have pumpkin in them and pumpkin is good for you (-; Thanks for sharing! Pinning!

  7. Made these tonight….thought they were delicious! Even my picky son loved. Made in 9x 13 pan. Look like not enough batter…but, after done are a good size. Only thing, i had to bake a lot longer than 15-20 min. More like 30-35 min. Very moist and chewy. Wondering smart points value?

    1. 5 stars
I I think she said 3 points per serving but I’m sure that varies depending on the size you cut your brownies ??

  8. Has anyone ever tried making them with the sugar free brownie mix I’m trying it today and don’t want to be disappointed

  9. I was the only one in my family that liked these. My 4 year old tasted and spit them out. They taste healthy.

    1. I believe I did this wrong at this point they are in the oven so what do I do? I made it with the bigger can of pumpkin so double the pumpkin with one box of brownie!

  10. Tried these yesterday and they turned out great! Also needed more around 30 mins to cook through. Resulted in fudgey texture as mentioned above. Awesome, thanks!

  11. Found a sugar free cake mix and did them into muffins. The kids and I loved them. I couldn’t figure out how to calculate the points. I’ll try your idea next. Love it! Thanks.

    1. I would plug in the nutritional information on the side and how many servings the whole box is. I need to find sugar free mixes I know it would bring down the points a lot.

      1. Is the nutritional facts on the side just foe the powder mix? Or it it for the whole thing with eggs and oil?

I didn’t care for this recipe at all, but love the pumpkin muffins made with spice cake and canned muffins!

  13. 4 stars
For nutitional value, you should be able to add the nutritional value of both the canned pumpkin and dry brownie mix. Then divide that by how many pieces you end up with after you cut the whole brownie.

  14. I made these three years ago and shared them with my then-landlady. We ate half the pan that night, and I sent half of the remainder home with her. We liked them very much, but we’re both also into healthier eating. Just have to adjust one’s expectations, not really think of them as brownies, but as a delicious baked chocolate treat. I’ve made them and poured homemade dark chocolate ganache on them, upping the chocolate factor by a million, or so. I’ve also added dark chocolate chips to the batch, and now there are Lily’s chocolate chips that are made with Stevia as the sweetener, and they’re excellent!

Oh, rats, now I want to make a batch of brownies, but it’s almost midnight…

  15. I haven’t made these yet, but have been told they are very dry. Wondering if you could add some unsweetened applesauce to it? Thanks

  16. I thought they turned out well; I made a few tweaks based on the reviews & trying to increase the protein. I added 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice, 3 scoops of collagen powder, & 2 eggs. I baked it for 21 min & cut it into 32 brownies.
