First published in 2015 and republished in 2022.
My son and I loved to watch MasterChef Junior together in 2015. In one episode of MasterChef Jr. Season 3, the kids made their own sausage. He was really wanting to try a recipe using sausage (though we opted for beef, not Kangaroo, like some did in the episode). We turned to Pinterest and found a great recipe from Damn Delicious.
Look how young he was; now he is 18 in 2025! This is still one of the family’s favorite recipe.

How To Make Pasta With Sausage
Slice your sausage into small pieces, and cut up your onion if needed.
Set a large pot on the burner and turn the heat to medium-low.
In your pot, add a small amount of minced garlic to taste and add your sliced sausage.

Add your diced onions or onion powder to your sausage and garlic.
Saute your sausage for a bit until it starts to brown.
Add the water, spaghetti noodles (broken into halves), and basil to the pot.
Salt and pepper to your taste preference.

Bring the pot to a rolling boil.
Once your water is boiling, reduce the heat to medium and let it simmer, uncovered.
Stir occasionally to prevent noodles from sticking together.
Allow everything to cook until all liquid has been absorbed. (This step took about 8-10 minutes to complete) You will not need to drain any fluid.

Once the liquid is gone, mix the Parmesan Cheese into the cooked pasta mixture in the pot.
Serve and enjoy.
