Homemade Alfredo Sauce makes for the perfect fettuccine alfredo! The best part about homemade is that it is made with simple ingredients; trust me I had no idea till a girlfriend told me!  Now I am not sure I can go back to bottled alfredo sauce again.

Thank you to Wildgrain for sponsoring this post. All opinions are truthful to my experience with the product. This post contains affiliate links that will earn me a small commission when used to order from Wildgrain.

This was my first time making a homemade sauce, chicken alfredo is a favorite of Kylie’s and I wanted to pair it up with the Fettuccine Pasta from our first Wildgrain box! I knew she wanted a creamy sauce to pair with her favorite pasta so I asked a girlfriend who makes her own sauce for what she thought was the best homemade alfredo sauce recipe. Thankfully she loved it and said it was comparable to the Olive Garden Alfredo Sauce.

What Is Wildgrain?

Wild grain was founded to create clean and high-quality carbs! The recipes they use to focus on clean ingredients with artisanal processes that have important nutrition benefits! They partner with small bakers and pasta makers all over the use. (Want to learn more see my post -> here)

Homemade Alfredo Sauce Ingredients:

*I doubled this but you could half it. I wanted to have extras for dipping my bread into and my broccoli as well.*

  • Butter
  • Heavy Whipping Cream
  • Minced Garlic
  • Garlic Powder
  • Italian Seasoning
  • Cream Cheese
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Gouda Cheese

How To Make Delicious Homemade Alfredo Sauce From Scratch:

In a large skillet saucepan or medium saucepan over medium-low heat add your butter, heavy whipping cream, and cream cheese. These are the main ingredients of your sauce. I did slice up the stick of butter and the cube of cream cheese to help it melt better. Be sure to melt the butter completely and make a liquid sauce. (You can use heavy cream instead of whipping cream, and unsalted butter or salted butter. This is a personal taste preference.

Whisk until everything has melted together while still over medium heat.

Pro-tip is to use a silicone whisk is amazing for this, it won’t scratch your nonstick pans!

Add next to your sauce mixture the minced garlic, garlic powder, Italian season, salt, and pepper. I personally prefer to use grinders to grind Pink Himalayan Sea Salt, and fresh ground black pepper. You can use other versions of salt and pepper if you want.

Continue to whisk until everything becomes a liquid sauce.

Alfredo Sauce With The Cheese Added On Stove

Add in your shredded parmesan cheese and gouda cheese. I personally prefer to use fresh parmesan cheese wedges and gouda cheese wedges, which you can find in the deli and shred at home, I feel in recipes like this the cheese seems to melt smoothly and make a thicker sauce. You can skip Gouda and double up the Parmesan Cheese instead, or the Kraft kind in the container works as well.  Save some cheese for topping your pasta as well.

Bring the cheese sauce mixture to a simmer on medium-low heat and allow to cook for about 3 to 5 minutes until the sauce starts to thicken.

Keep stirring with your whisk so if your pan has hot spots it doesn’t stick to the pan. This turns into a creamy white sauce aka creamy alfredo sauce.

Remove a portion of the homemade alfredo sauce to have as a dipping sauce for the bread and broccoli.

Homemade Alfredo Sauce On Pasta With Broccoli And Sourdough Bread

Store leftover sauce in an airtight container. This easy alfredo sauce recipe turns out better than jarred alfredo sauce, and will be a family favorite!

Wildgrain Noodle Directions:

In a small pan saute a little bit of minced garlic with your precooked chicken or cook chicken breasts, is warm.

In a large pot boil water and a bit of salt, and drop in your frozen pasta.

Use a spoon to break up the frozen pasta balls.

Wildgrain Fettuccini Made And Strained

Strain the pasta and have it ready to serve! You can combine in the cheese pan the cooked fettuccini and the chicken as well, or dish them separately.

Serve and enjoy!!

If you aren’t into dipping Alfredo sauce on your bread you can do dipping oil as well! Be sure to check out my Sun-Dried Tomato Garlic Dipping Oil -> here and Homemade Garlic Parmesan Dipping Oil -> here.

This recipe does not say how much cream cheese to use. Or I just missing something?

Sounds yummy, however, there is cream cheese listed in the instructions but not in either posting of the ingredients? How much is needed?
