Now while I am in love with making 2 Ingredient desserts, Isabella was bummed there aren’t more steps. This recipe does not require an electric mixer just a spatula, it can even be referred to as a dump cake. This cake isn’t just for dessert it makes a great brunch food or the perfect summertime cake. We love the moist cherry chunks in the cherry cake, and who doesn’t love easy recipes?

The first time we made a cake like this, we used lemon pie filling, and it was amazing! But the cherry also would make for a sure crowd-pleaser cake for Valentine’s Day.

How To Make Angel Food Cake With Cherry Pie Filling:

Now I was shopping and found this super cute Mini Angel Food Cake Bundt Pan and knew it would be perfect to try out with a 2 ingredient angel food cake recipe we were itching to make. Now, being lazy, we made four little cakes and then put the rest of the batter in a Pyrex pan.

Mini angel food cake pan

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Now you can use a homemade angel food cake however I feel that an angel food cake box mix is the easier way to go.

Pour your can of cherry pie filling into a large bowl; a medium bowl will not hold it all. Then, slowly add the box of angel food cake mix. You could use maraschino Cherries mixed with a pudding mix, but there are pie fillings that work well with the mix.

Use a spatula to mix this slowly; it turns out to be a thick batter. Mixing this without spilling the powder everywhere is the hardest part of the recipe.

You could use an ungreased angel food cake pan but I prefer to use greased pans, just know your preference.

Grease your cake pan with shortening, you can use a nonstick spray this is a complete choice by preference.

Next, pour the mixed cherry angel food cake batter into your pan.

I used a spoon to scoop the batter into my mini Angel Food Cake Pan, and then I put the rest of the batter in my glass Pyrex pan. You could use also use a 9X13 pan or a 9-inch baking dish

After your oven is preheated, bake for about 18 minutes; now, since this is a pink color batter, the top of the cake will brown a bit.  This is normal but also be sure to toothpick test your cake.

Remove and allow to partially cool before serving.

Next up serve your cake!!

How To Serve 2-Ingredient Cherry Angel Food Cakes:

Flip the bundt cake pans onto a serving plate or parchment paper.

Top with whipped topping, cool whip, or spray whipped cream on the top of cake slices or on the mini bundt cakes.

If in a baking pan, cut the cake. Cut into about 4-inch slices for serving.

Now, if you want to be fancy and make a divine dessert top with cherry glaze. Makes for a fun twist on traditional angel food cake.

This cake can also be served with vanilla ice cream and topped with Maraschino Cherries.

While the cake rises beautifully, and has the consistency of a “normal” angel food cake, it was WAY too sweet! We couldn’t eat it, and it all went down the garbage disposal.
