There’s something about being able to bake with the kids in the kitchen when the holidays roll around — and these cake mix M&M cookies are perfect for that. With just a boxed cake mix, a few pantry staples, and a handful of colorful M&Ms, they come together in under 15 minutes. No fuss, no complicated dough, no long prep — just holiday fun, giggles, and warm cookies ready to go. (Shhh, they are perfect for Santa and cookie exchanges as well)

These cookies aren’t just easy — they bring out the joy of baking together. Whether you’re making for a holiday get-together, potluck, cookie exchange, mailing a treat to a loved one, or setting out a plate under the tree, they’re a simple, cheerful way to make memories.Â
And while they’re absolutely delicious, it’s worth remembering that cookies are a treat, but if you plan it out, they won’t ruin any of your goals. I believe in moderation, especially at the holiday times, and I have never regretted these memories with my kids.
M&M Cake Mix Cookies Recipe Ingredients:
- White Cake Mix– You can use a different variety, but the white will show the M&M color best. A chocolate cake mix would be a tasty combination.
- Baking Powder
- Eggs
- Vegetable oil
- Vanilla
- Plain M&Ms– You could use a different variety of M&Ms; if doing M&Ms like peanuts, where they are larger, you will want to use fewer M&Ms.

How To Make cake mix cookies with m&ms:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Mix all of the ingredients except for M&Ms.

After all the other ingredients are well mixed, slowly add in the M&Ms. You can use fewer M&Ms, but we like cookies with lots of candy.

Scoop dough into balls and place on a cookie sheet. I use a cookie scoop to do it (You can get one -> here) to make the cookie shapes and to keep them uniform.

Bake for about 8-10 minutes

Allow to cool on a wire rack before storing; the chocolate will hold the heat, so be sure to cool properly! I have about ten different wire racks, and when I go on a baking frenzy, it’s convenient to have many of them!

I am so glad that you loved them!! Cake mix cookies are my favorite!
These look yummy!
There’s a trick to cake mix cookies….most people don’t add the extra flour and end up with flatter cookies. Add 1/3 to 1/2 cup flour (depending on the size of the cake mix). Not necessary to add the baking powder, but you can add about 1/4 tsp. cream of tarter, if you want them to puff and then crackle. You can even add 1/2 pkg. of instant pudding to them. With a white cake mix, I like to add white chocolate pudding mix.
