One Pot Sausage Pasta Recipe

This One Pot Sausage Pasta was a hit with my kids and is a quick and easy frugal dinner with ingredients already in the pantry!

  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 1 Package Sausage Sliced
  • 1 onion either diced with food processor or sliced thinly
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Minced garlic to your taste
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan


  1. Take a large deep pot and combine in spaghetti, sausage, onion, basil, garlic, and 4 1/2 cups water.  

  2. Then add in salt and pepper, to taste.

  3. Bring the pot to a boil and then reduce down the heat and simmer uncovered.  

  4. Allow to cook until the pasta is done and there is no liquid (This takes about 8-10 minutes)

  5. Mix in the Parmesan cheese

  6. Serve right away

Recipe Notes

The original recipe called for 2 cups loosely packed but we opted for less

The original recipe called for 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
