If you are heading to Seaside, Or you have to check out the Seaside OR Aquarium while you are there! I first visited this Aquarium when I was 16 when we came out to visit my grandparents! Now that I have taken my kids I love that they were able to have a fun experience as well. (I have included affiliate links to products I love. Most of the hotels and condos we have stayed at in Seaside, Oregon are right on the main boardwalk along the ocean! The Seaside Aquarium is a walkable distance from the main streets of Seaside. I love that this Aquariumfa was started in 1937 and is still privately owned as well as the owners working in everyday operations.
Seals At Seaside Aquarium
Now, my kid’s favorite part was feeding the seals! All of the seals at this aquarium were born into captivity and most of them are 3rd and 4th generation seals to the aquarium. It was fun to listen to them bark and to watch them eat the seal-food that the kids were feeding them. You can buy the seal’s food in the gift shop when you get to the aquarium.
Victor the Lobster
Now Michael was obsessed with the story about Victor the lobster. (learn more about Victor and the history of the museum -> here) In short summary, Victor was a lobster that was rescued in Maine and found his home and fate in Seaside. He was stolen and then dropped leading to his death! He was preserved by a taxidermist is on display at the aquarium. Michael said he would have been amazing with butter and a t-bone steak but we were all in awe of how big he was!
Touch Tanks:
Both Kylie and Michael dived right into the touch tanks as well! They were able to talk about the creatures with a staff member about what they were touching in the tanks. Isabella wasn’t as into but loved talking with their expert and learning about the creatures.
Art Tables:
Bella being the artistic one had a blast with their art table where she was able to make rubbings. She was ani touching any of the wildlife so this was perfect for her to do her thing while they did theirs.
