What I Wish I knew Before Joining Weight Watchers AKA WW. I mean we experience going thru something it always makes us realize what we would redo if we could right? (I have included affiliate links to products I love. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.)
Now I first wrote this in 2015, I had first hit my goal in 2014 and maintained it for a couple months and then my marriage fell apart and I lost focus. It is now 2018 and I am sooooooo close to goal. I m mentally in a better place then I was in 2014 and even though I am not at that magical number I have never felt better.
I shared about hitting my goal in 2014 HERE I had turned 30 and hit my lifetime Weight Watchers goal. Since hitting goal I have turned 30 and 31, ran my first 5k, ran my first half marathon, 10 k, and ran my first marathon…. I hated running before I joined Weight Watchers. It’s important to know while you joining WW thinking you will lose weight you gain so much more life!!
I never could have foreseen at that time the path my life would take after hitting goal. I have gotten down to 160 often from 2015 to now. I don’t regret spending money on WW, be3cause I can’t imagine how much worse the gains woudl have been without WW on my mind or on my phone. It would’ve been so much without running and habits I had picked up on the journey.
And I’ve learned the hard way that once you hit goal your journey continues it’s just different. I always laughed at those that said maintenance was harder, it is! Though I have gotten really good at maintaining 160 it can be hard to find the groove that works for your body.

#transformationtuesday The pic on the right was at Santa Hqs last year and the pic on the right is from this year when we went again! The right is 30lbs into my journey and the left is 30 more lbs and just 1 lb or 2 away from goal. I’ve been stuck at that 1-2 lbs since Sept crossing my fingers this week is the week I hit lifetime again!
The difference from 2017 to 2018 is amazing and I know this time I was doing it for me, not for any other reason. When people tell you its a journey, not a race they really aren’t full of it.
What You Hear But Don’t Believe
80% of your weight loss is mental and retraining yourself. We are creatures of habit and we hate change. Believe me, big mental challenges were had by me.
Life happens all the freaking time! I wish I hadn’t been so hard on myself during this process and now.
Your leader and everyone in the room is there to support you. Plus you never know when you will be a support for someone else in the room. I held off for a long time chatting with people at my meetings and opening up. Now my running partner came from the meetings and we are able to lean on each other for support with weight loss and our running training.
What I Want To Share With Others
Take the time to identify your struggles. I know now that certain stress factors in life can make me turn to food and have found a friend that I can call when I just need to get whatever out. She will listen to whatever crazy comes out laugh or cry with me and then ask me if I feel better. 95% of the time this is a great way for me to get over and move on from issues.
Seriously a good food scale, measuring cups, and spoons. You would be surprised at how much you over guess what your serving size really is. It was a shocker to me to see what a real serving size was!
Planning yes it is key ad it also makes sticking on plan so much easier!!! I take time once a week to weigh and measure snacks, meats, cheese, and meal plan out my food. Plus making sure you have the right foods in your house as well for success!
Enjoy life!!! Seriously you can become obsessive over food and forget to take time to enjoy life and experiences. I went to Maui during my weight loss journey and I went with a plan, control breakfast and lunch and fully enjoy dinner. I still enjoyed the huge Hula pie we had for dessert and yes I blew points but where else will you have that? And every trip since then I have done that as well.

Back from vacation and faced the scale this morning!! In being honest and real here is the results! I went -175 points last week So far this week I am -53 points (my week starts on Monday) I really should have had more water but long road trips it meant less potty stops I could have gone on more walks I gained 5.4 lbs and I am okay with that We made fun memories and had a great trip!! No matter what track and find some movement. Even if you are having a bad week knowing you have to enter that chocolate, fast food, or wine will help you with portion control even though you are not 100% on plan.
