It seems like this year is flying by and now it’s time for our next soccer season to start!! My son Michael couldn’t be more excited about his tryouts. He has been training, attending clinics, and is ready to get on the field again!! In many ways, Michael is my hero. I still look at him and see a little 4-weeks-premature baby, but he really is one of the strongest soccer players I have watched on the field during his games.
Speaking of heroes, right now you can nominate your unsung hero in the #H2Ohero contest→ Be a Brita Hero to win a trip to the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas and more. When it comes to soccer, there are so many unsung heroes behind the players: their coaches, parents, family members, teammates, heck even the snacks and water breaks help to push them along.
I understand and value the importance of water in training and hydration during soccer games! As Michael’s mom, it is important for me to make sure he has everything he needs to be successful on the field and that includes hydration!
Tips For Hydrating Your Athlete:
- Send them to school with a refillable water bottle. Constantly hydrating their body helps their overall performance. Lead by example. You won’t catch me going anywhere without my refillable water bottles.
- Double check the weather. The hotter it is, the more water you will need!
- Take extra water. Seriously. You would be surprised at how much water you will drink while cheering on the team. Plus, you want to make sure you athlete has water to hydrate after the game as well!
If you are new to the world of soccer, this is commonly what is at soccer fields: Most are set up with an outhouse and spigot (like for water hoses). Not the best quality of water to drink. I love that you can now get filters to put in your 5-gallon water coolers! We now have our 5-gallon cooler with the Brita Jug Filter to hold extra water so we can refill our water bottles.Which is amazing since before I always had issues with refilling our bottles since I am picky about how my water tastes.
The Brita water filter system comes with adapters for Coleman, Igloo, and Rubbermaid jug coolers to help keep your athlete hydrated! This system also eliminates waste since you don’t have to buy cases of water. I love that you can find them online at Home Depot. It’s easy to set up and have ready for soccer. The ease of setting up the filter in the cooler was so easy! The adapters are clearly labeled with letters to correspond with the brand of cooler. Untwist the piece that comes with your cooler. attach the adapter, and then twist the filter on and you are good to go!! We hit up a gas station around the corner from his soccer to drop in a bag of ice and we are good to go!
How do you keep your athlete hydrated for sports?? Would you try the Brita system for coolers?
