Thank you to the Washington State Fair and USFG for tickets to the game. Regardless of that, all opinions in this post belong to Penny Pincher Jenny and are truthful to our experience with the event.
Do you have that one local event that the kids are always excited to go to?? For us, it is the Washington State Fair every fall. Don’t ask me why, but, before this year, we had never gone to the Spring Fair. This time, things fell right into place for us to be able to go, including the kids having a Friday off from school. So of course, I loaded the kids up for a play date at the fair with our friends!!!
Reasons Why The Washington State Fair Is Great For Kids!
The Memories– My kids talk all year about what happened at the State Fair!! Each time we drive past the fair grounds (off of 512 in Puyallup, Washington), they talk about the State Fair from previous years.
The Food- Do we have to say much else than the amazing State Fair food? Deep fried butter, scones, elephant ears, slushies, corn on the cob, and so much more. It’s a foodie heaven! We grab a variety of different items and had the kids pass around the food to share.
The Shows- We saw several different shows all free with our admission. There were lumberjacks, a snake show (which my daughter went up for! All I could think was, “Eww!”), pig racing, a cooking demonstration, and more! The kids loved all of the shows, and it was nice for us adults to be able to stand back and chat and watch the show as well!
The Animals– This is what all the kids were most excited about! The petting zoo is where they spent the bulk of their time. They got to pet chickens, goats, bunnies, and other animals. Plus, while walking around the barns, we were able to see a baby miniature horse with its mom in the pen, llamas, horses, cows, sheep, and more. There weren’t as many animals at the Spring Fair as the Fall Fair, but it was just the right amount for the kids.
The Rides– We opted not to do a lot of rides, but my daughter did ride the Extreme Scream for the first time — and she loved it. Getting tickets was quick and easy, plus she didn’t even have to wait in line to ride. Most of the rides we went past had very small lines compared to when we are there in the fall.
The School Exhibits- We are in the Puyallup school district, so the kids thought it was amazing that they could go through and find their classmates STEM Showcase projects, plus we also found my youngest Isabella’s self-portrait on display as well!!
We are already counting down the days to the Washington State Fair in the fall!! The concert lineup, dizzy passes, and the exhibits are all the kids have talked about since the Spring Fair!
