How To Grill Bratwurst, trust me this is so much easier then you think it would be, it’s so easy the kids can help. Even though I am not a fair-weather griller, my kids certainly are!! Cooking dinner is one of those few times that the kids and I get to spend together as a family.
When I had the chance to partner with Klement’s sausage, of course, I agreed to share our family’s opinion in this sponsored post, so I’m sharing our family’s experience. Isabella picked out the Kelments Cheddar Bratwurst for dinner, but she wanted to do something more than just grill them. (Trust me, they are PERFECT that way, but she didn’t feel that was cooking enough for her dinner).

Now while the kids help grill they know to follow the rules of grilling; mom fires up the grill. Isabella was so excited to throw the brats on the grill, and she loved being able to move them from the top rack to the bottom rack of the grill.
Grilled Bratwurst Ingredients:
- Bratwurst– You can use jalapeno bratwurst, cheddar bratwurst, and even beyond meat Bratwurst for this recipe.
- Yellow Onion– I used this because it is a sweeter onion for the kids, but red onions would also work well in this.
- Chicken Broth– You can also use apple juice instead of chicken broth or beef broth.

How To Grill Bratwurst
Fire your grill up on low and allow it to warm up
Once your grill is warmed up place the Bratwurst on the top rack
While they are starting to cut up your yellow onion, so you have large chunks

Place a saute pan with a lid on a burner and fill with chicken broth and onions.
Bring the pan to a boil on the stovetop.
Keep an eye on how your Bratwursts are doing and move to the lower part of your grill to add grill marks.

Once you have grill marks on both sides carry them into the house and add to your pan with the broth mixture.
Allow to simmer for 20-30 minutes to cook in the flavor, we allowed ours to simmer while we made up some Oven Roasted Garlic Potatoes to go with the Bratwurst.

Serve up and enjoy the slices of onion are a great topping for your Bratwurst out of the broth.

Oh yum. I never would have thought of boiling them up with onions after grilling. Ibet it keeps them super moist.

I like your way of cooking these. I will boil them in beer then put them on the grill and we really find the stadium bratwurst are the best for this. But now I think I will reverse the way I cook these and add onion to the beer. Thank you for the tip.
Jenny says
I have boiled them in beer before and its really good! I want to try a hard apple cider next!! Let me know how you like it in reverse! Happy Grilling!
