It’s no secret to any adult out there; cleaning sucks and it is the last thing you ever want to do!! Well, it has been that time of year where the kids are non-stop with their activities, work is busy, and let’s face it there is just not enough hours in the day! Can you relate to this?? Well, this past weekend we were hosting a get together for the big game and I realized I had not deep cleaned my kitchen since before the holidays. I know you can relate to what I thoughts went screaming through my head!! But it is really easy to deep clean your kitchen 1 day or less!
Start with your fridge/freezer-Seriously this was one of the worst parts of my house!! Start by removing everything from your fridge/freezer, I had a card table that I pulled into the house to hold everything from them. Remove all the shelves and clean them, most my shelves were a quick wipe down with a window cleaner. We also had acquired multiples of some condiments from them being left at our house from tailgating, some condiments that were empty but the kids still put away, and also time to make that list of what needs to be replaced. Reassemble your clean fridge and freezer on the inside.
Take everything off the outside of your fridge including the top of it! Declutter papers, magnets, notes, and give it a good wipe down, I had a PTA calendar from the kids old school still! If you have a newer fridge with dispensing water but sure to check your filter and order a new one if necessary!
Cabinets- I always start at the top of mine and then work my way down. I don’t know about you but I love to keep decorative jars and jugs on the top so be sure to pull these down give them a quick wipe down, plus any of the junk that gets thrown on top of your cabinets. Moving to the inside of the cabinets pull everything out of all the cabinets, declutter, check expiration dates, and wipe down the inside and outside of the cabinets.
Drawers- Pull everything out of your drawers onto your counters!!! While they are empty give them a good wipe out while they are empty. Now I know in my house I don’t have just one junk drawer I have a couple of them. Be sure to take the time to clean out anything that you don’t need or use, plus it never fails I find broken spoons and utensils as well. Take a minute to wash your silverware holder as well and any utensil holders.

Counters- Take the time to wipe down your counters and everything on them. Take the time to wipe down and clean your toaster, coffee maker, etc that is all left out on the counters.
Wall- The walls between your counter and your cabinets get so much splashed on them with everyday kitchen use. Be sure to give them a good wipe down with some soapy water. Plus take this time to check the caulking on the tiles as well. Great time to make your preventative maintenance list.
Microwave and stove- Wash the inside of both out, take the time to wash your oven racks and your plate in your microwave. It is amazing how much little residue can build up on them! You can order all yoru supplies right off Amazon as well, the microwave cleaner is a great way to steam the microwave to easily clean it down!!
Sink and dishwasher- Even though it gets cleaned daily there are still some deep cleaning that can be done here. Take a sponge and do the caulking around the sink really well, deep clean around the crevices of the faucet mounted to the sink, wash your dish racks, and soap holders. And do the same thing inside and outside of the dishwasher.
Floor- Take time to bend over and look at the baseboards! Give your floor a good go over on your hands and knees, trust me you will notice a lot that needs to be cleaned up even if you mop often. For in-between cleanings, I highly recommend a Swiffer that allows you to do both the dry Swiffer and the wet pads as well. Great way to get the kids to be involved in cleaning as well an easy chore to do as well.
Linens- Take the time to go through your towels, washcloths, and rugs I had some washcloths that are better off now as dust rags instead of dish washcloths.
Trashcan- This can really make or break how clean your home feels. There have been times that we have walked into the house and gone “what is that smell??” Now even with making sure you keep your trashcan clean, there is a secret weapon you can use! I have found the new Glad KitchenPro trash bags!! Now I am sure you went through a couple of bags with deep cleaning your kitchen by the time you reached this point so you will love to know that the Glad KitchenPro trash bags have the same great protection as kitchen bags with the capacity and strength of an outdoor black bag. (Confession time I have used these outdoor bags in the kitchen on heavy trash making days) My favorite parts are the added leak protection (what mom hasn’t cleaned up the trail of unknown liquids going out the door), the double bag protection, and 5-day odor control!! Seriously to not have bad odors with Febreze odor neutralization is amazing, especially with all the meat juice we have going in ours from grilling and cooking! Plus you can order them right from Amazon as well!!
How often do you deep clean your kitchen? Do you have any shortcuts for deep cleaning your kitchen?
