The seasons are changing, and here in Washington means that we actually have some sunlight shining! We have grilled at least three times a week so far this month and hosted at least one cookout at least once a week! (I have included links to some great products that can make your life easier. You can buy them through my online sales links.)
It’s no secret that grilling is a passion of mine! Over the year I have come up with different ways to make the cookouts a bit smoother. As with anything else in life, planning details out can make all the world of difference for how smooth your cookout goes.
Brilliant Hacks For Your Memorial Day Cookout:
Use a Muffin Pan for Condiments- There is no need to set out all those bottles of ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. Instead, use a muffin tin for the condiments.
Keep Foods Cold in a Kiddie Pool- You can keep foods cold, like egg salads, fresh vegetables and dip and shrimp cocktail nice and cold by add ice to a small kiddie pool and placing your food items on top. If it’s a smaller get together a large bowl with ice will work as well.
Brush Your Meat With Olive Oil- This helps to add moisture to your meat but it also makes a nonstick for your grilling as well so the meat won’t stick.
Make a Mason Jar Bug Repellent- It is about that time for bugs to make their way into your backyard. The problem is that they weren’t invited. Time to make your own bug repellent to keep insects at bay. For starters, you will need mason jars, sliced lemons (2 per jar), sliced limes (2 per jar), fresh rosemary (a few sprigs per jar), lavender oil (10 drops per jar) and floating tea light candles (1 per jar). Fill each mason jar about ¾ of the way up, then add lemon slices, lime slices, rosemary and lavender oil. Add the tea light candle, light it and you are ready to enjoy some bug-free time outdoors.
